Amazon quietly shuts down its live audio-streaming app Amp
Amazon is shutting down its live radio app, Amp, after just a year and a half of operation. Amp, which allowed users to launch live shows and access licensed songs, was seen as a competitor to Clubhouse and other live audio services. Despite attracting celebrities and notable figures, signs of trouble emerged early on, with Amazon cutting half of Amp's staff last year. The closure of Amp follows a trend of live audio services pivoting or shutting down as user interest wanes post-pandemic. Amazon Music stated that they learned valuable insights from Amp and will apply them to new fan experiences in the future.
