"Long-Term Impact: ADHD Symptoms and Adult Life Success"
A recent study published in the Journal of Attention Disorders debunks the misconception that ADHD symptoms fade with age, finding that they persist into adulthood and impact various aspects of life success, including relationships and career satisfaction. The study, which followed a group of post-secondary students over a 15-year period, revealed that symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity remained remarkably consistent over time and were associated with poorer outcomes in key areas of life success during early middle adulthood, particularly for men. While inattention consistently predicted lower career satisfaction and relationship quality, the impact of hyperactivity-impulsivity symptoms varied more significantly between individuals, with some surprising associations with relationship satisfaction.
