"Philly Sets Guinness Record with Largest Drag Story Time for Pride Month"

Philadelphia kicked off LGBTQ Pride Month by setting a Guinness World Record for the largest drag queen story time, with 263 attendees at the National Constitution Center. The event, organized by the Philadelphia Gay News, highlighted the unique cultural significance of drag story times and served as a statement against efforts to ban such events in states like Texas and Montana. The process to get the record recognized by Guinness took about eight months, and the event featured performances by five drag artists.

Kellogg's Faces Legal Challenges Over Workplace Diversity and Product Sexualization

Conservative legal group America First Legal has filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against Kellogg Co, accusing the company of implementing workplace diversity policies that violate federal laws against workplace bias. The group also criticized Kellogg's marketing campaigns, including featuring drag queen RuPaul on Cheez-It boxes and celebrating LGBTQ Pride Month on cereal boxes, claiming that the company has "politicized and sexualized" its products. America First Legal has threatened shareholder litigation if Kellogg does not change its allegedly illegal policies. This complaint is part of a broader campaign by conservative legal groups and Republican legislators against corporations with "woke" policies on social issues.

Starbucks faces backlash over removal of Pride decorations in Ohio stores.

Workers at a Columbus Starbucks are accusing the company of banning workers from installing decorations celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month. The union representing U.S. Starbucks employees alleges the company is directing locations in Ohio and several other states to remove Pride displays. The move made employees feel “unsafe, attacked” and like the company was “taking a page out of the right-wing reactionary’s playbook,” said a Columbus-area employee. The union is alleging the removal of Pride decorations is a continuation of the company’s “anti-union campaign to intimidate workers and make them feel unwelcome in their own workplace.”

Michigan's Push for Progress: From Pride Flags to Population Growth

For the first time at the annual Mackinac Policy Conference held by the Detroit Regional Chamber, pride flags waved from the porch of the Grand Hotel to celebrate the beginning of LGBTQ Pride Month and the passage earlier this year of an expansion of Michigan's civil rights law to bar discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in housing, employment, education and public accommodations. The decision to put up the flag goes back to 2014, said Brad Williams, vice president of government relations for the Detroit Regional Chamber.
