Macron rebukes Meloni over Lyon activist killing remarks
Macron publicly rebuked Italian PM Giorgia Meloni for commenting on the Lyon killing of far-right activist Quentin Deranque, telling her to stop meddling in France’s affairs after she described the death as a European wound. Deranque died from head injuries after an attack near Sciences Po Lyon; seven people, including an LFI aide, face murder charges. Meloni later said Macron misinterpreted her remarks and stressed she was condemning violence and polarisation, not interfering.
