Ukrainian Tankers Receive Intensive Training on German Leopard Tanks
Ukraine is set to receive a significant number of German-made Leopard 1A5 tanks, which will outnumber all other Western tank types in Ukrainian service combined. Germany has authorized the export of up to 178 Leopard 1A5 tanks, with around 135 coming from German and Danish stocks. While the Leopard 1A5 is praised for its maneuverability and accurate main gun, it has lighter armor compared to the Ukrainian T-72 tanks. Ukrainian tankers are undergoing extensive training in Germany to prepare for the arrival of the Leopard 1A5 tanks, with thousands of Ukrainian soldiers expected to pass through the training program in the coming months.
