"Escaped Brazilian Inmate Flees Pennsylvania Prison for 'Lenient' Justice in Home Country"

Brazilian prosecutor Rafael Pinto Alamy believed that convicted killer Danelo Cavalcante escaped from a Pennsylvania prison to face a homicide charge in Brazil, where he would receive a much lighter sentence compared to the life sentence he received in the U.S. for killing his girlfriend. Cavalcante, who was captured after nearly two weeks on the run, fled Brazil in 2018 after allegedly shooting a man who owed him money. If convicted in Brazil, Cavalcante faces a maximum of 30 years in prison and could possibly be released after about 12 years for good behavior.
