"Mother Files Lawsuit Against Poultry Plant Over 16-Year-Old Son's Death"
Edilma Perez Ramirez has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Mar-Jac Poultry after her 16-year-old son, Duvan Perez, was fatally injured while cleaning machinery at a Mississippi facility. The lawsuit alleges that the company and its employees knowingly operated the machine while the underage teen was in a position to be harmed and that he was not properly trained or qualified for the job. OSHA has cited Mar-Jac with 17 violations and proposed $212,646 in penalties. This incident follows two other employee deaths at the same facility in less than three years, leading to calls for stricter safety standards.
