UP Implements Immediate Ban on Sale of Halal-Certified Products
The Uttar Pradesh government has banned the production, storage, distribution, and sale of food products with the Halal certification, citing confusion regarding the quality of food items. However, products manufactured for export are exempt from the ban. The move comes after a police case was filed against several organizations for allegedly providing "forged" halal certificates to boost sales. The government stated that these actions exploit religious sentiments and violate public trust. The entities involved have denied the allegations and vowed to take legal action. Halal certification ensures that food is prepared in accordance with Islamic law and is free from prohibited components.
