France arrests 11 in killing of far-right activist as political tensions rise
Eleven people, including an aide to a hard-left lawmaker, were detained overnight and again on Wednesday in connection with the killing of far-right activist Quentin Deranque in Lyon; Lyon prosecutors have opened a murder investigation and 11 suspects have been detained so far. The Paris headquarters of the hard-left France Unbowed (LFI) party was evacuated after a bomb threat, highlighting rising political tensions ahead of local and national elections, with LFI denying responsibility and far-right RN accusing LFI leader Mélenchon of enabling violence.
