Kentucky state Representative Lamin Swann, a Democrat, has died at the age of 45 after being admitted to a hospital last week following a "significant medical emergency." Swann, who represented District 93 in the Lexington area, assumed office on Jan. 1 this year after being elected in November 2022. He was an advocate for social justice and expanding disability rights. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said Swann was "always smiling, leading with kindness while working to build a better Kentucky for all" and that "[h]e will be greatly missed."
