Disney has canceled plans for a new campus in Lake Nona, Florida, citing changes in leadership and business conditions. However, the company affirmed its commitment to additional expansion and job creation, with plans to invest $17 billion and create 13,000 jobs over the next ten years. Disney has cancelled a $1bn office complex in Orlando, which would have created over 2,000 jobs, due to "changing business conditions". The project would have involved the relocation of over 1,000 employees from Southern California, including most of a department known as Imagineering. The company's battle with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his allies in the Florida Legislature was a factor in the decision to cancel the project. Disney and DeSantis have been sparring for over a year over a special tax district that encompasses Disney World.
