French workers plan massive protests over pension reform
French unions and protesters marched across the country in opposition to President Emmanuel Macron's pension bill, which raises the retirement age by two years to 64. Talks between the prime minister and labour unions failed to break the political stalemate, with union leaders and protesters calling for the legislation to be withdrawn. The protests represent the most serious challenge to Macron's authority since the "Yellow Vest" revolt four years ago, and polls show a wide majority of French oppose the pension legislation. The Constitutional Council will give its verdict on the pension bill on April 14th.
