Stanford DEI Dean on Leave for Confronting Judge During Speech.

Tirien Steinbach, the associate dean of diversity, equity and inclusion at Stanford Law School, is on leave after she was seen on video not doing anything to stop protesters from shouting down a Trump-appointed federal judge who was invited to give a talk at the school. The protest violated the university’s policy on disruption, and some protesters crossed the line in sustained heckling that disrupted the event. Free speech training will be required for both administrators and students in order to ensure compliance with university policy. The Federalist Society is entitled to the same free speech rights as any other student organization on campus.

Stanford Law Faces Backlash Over Campus Protests and DEI Bureaucracy

Senator Ted Cruz has written to the Texas state bar urging them to carefully consider the fitness of certain Stanford University law school graduates after a protest over a conservative judge's speaking engagement on the campus. Cruz said the protesters continuously interrupted Judge Kyle Duncan, called him racist and yelled "crude sexual slurs." He said the Texas board should "take particular care" for students graduating from Stanford law school in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and they should be forced to state in writing if they participated in the protest.

"Stanford Law's DEI Dean faces backlash over handling of protests"

A new video shows a Trump-appointed federal judge, Kyle Duncan, getting heckled at Stanford University by protesters, while the associate dean of diversity, equity and inclusion at the law school, Tirien Steinbach, appears to smirk as she watches the incident. The protesters were complaining about Duncan's refusal to use a transgender sex offender's preferred pronouns in a 2020 opinion. Duncan was unable to hold his speech at Stanford, and Steinbach took over and alleged that Duncan causes "harm" through his work as a federal judge. The incident led to calls for the school to apologize to the judge, and Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz suggested the school reprimand students involved.
