Michigan State University has unanimously hired Kevin Guskiewicz, a neuroscientist and concussion researcher from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, as its 22nd president. Guskiewicz, who has served at UNC-Chapel Hill for 28 years including the past four as chancellor, will be MSU's sixth president in as many years. The MSU Board of Trustees expressed optimism for the future under Guskiewicz's leadership, citing his qualifications, commitment to diversity, and values of equity, integrity, and transparency. Guskiewicz, known for his research on sports-related concussions, will begin his post on March 4.
