Suspect in Shooting of Charleston County Deputy Found Dead After Manhunt on Johns Island
The man accused of shooting two people, including a Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputy, on Johns Island, South Carolina, has been found deceased after a nearly 30-hour manhunt. The suspect, Ernest Burbage III, was located at a residence where he was spotted the previous night. After a robot and K9 unit were sent inside, Burbage exited the home holding a high-powered rifle and was engaged by law enforcement. During the confrontation, K9 Rico, a police dog, was killed, and Burbage was shot and died at the scene. The search for Burbage began after an argument with his girlfriend escalated into random shootings.
