Multiple Shootings Leave Tragic Toll: Deputy Injured, Unborn Baby Dies, and More

Master Deputy James Gilbreath of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office was shot in the head during a standoff on Johns Island, South Carolina. Gilbreath, a member of the agency's SWAT tactical team, is currently undergoing evaluation at MUSC. The suspect, Ernest Robert Burbage III, is considered armed and dangerous and is wanted in connection with two shootings. The sheriff's office is urging residents in the area to stay indoors while authorities search for Burbage, with assistance from SWAT teams and other law enforcement agencies. Several schools in the area have closed as a precaution.
