"Twins Acquire Outfielder Bubba Thompson from Yankees on Waivers"
The Minnesota Twins claimed outfielder Bubba Thompson off waivers from the New York Yankees, marking his fourth team of the offseason, while infielder Jeter Downs and outfielder Oscar González passed through waivers and were assigned outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Thompson, who was designated for assignment by the Yankees to make room for Luke Weaver, had previously been claimed by Cincinnati and Kansas City. Downs, named after Derek Jeter, was claimed by the Yankees from the Nationals, and Gonzalez was claimed from the Cleveland Guardians.
