Yankees Secure Jeter Downs in Waiver Claim

The New York Yankees have claimed 25-year-old shortstop Jeter Downs off waivers from the Washington Nationals. Downs, named after former Yankees captain Derek Jeter, made his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox in 2022 and was later claimed by the Nationals. He hit .154 with one homer and four RBIs in his debut season and had a .236 batting average with three homers, 18 RBIs, and 11 steals in Triple-A this year.
