
'Fiddler on the Roof' Lyricist Sheldon Harnick Passes Away at 99
Sheldon Harnick, a Broadway lyricist known for his creative partnership with composer Jerry Bock, has died at the age of 99. The duo collaborated on five shows that drew Tony Award nominations for best musical, including "Fiddler on the Roof," which became their most successful production. The musical ran on Broadway from 1964 to 1972 and won 10 Tony Awards, including best composer and lyricist. Harnick's partnership with Bock barely survived the 1960s, but they eventually reconciled as friends.
