Mass Suspension of Opposition MPs in Indian Parliament Highlights Deepening Political Crisis
Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan drew attention to the poor condition of the washrooms in Parliament while protesting against the suspensions of opposition members. She accused the Rajya Sabha Chairman of preventing her from speaking and criticized the government for passing bills without discussion. The opposition benches were deserted as a total of 141 MPs have been suspended. The suspensions came after opposition members demanded a statement on a security breach and disrupted proceedings. Bachchan, along with two other women MPs, walked out in protest.
