
Orlando Actor Successfully Defends Himself, Acquitted of Capitol Riot Charges
Orlando actor James Beeks, who was charged in connection with the attack on the U.S. Capitol, has been acquitted after representing himself in court. Beeks, also known as James Justis, was arrested while performing in the national touring company of "Jesus Christ Superstar." The actor was charged with six counts, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and destruction of government property. The judge acquitted Beeks on two charges, stating that the prosecution failed to prove his knowledge of a conspiracy. Prosecutors dropped the remaining four charges.
