Iowa State University is commemorating the 100th anniversary of Jack Trice's death, the first Black football player at the university and one of the early Black football players at a predominantly White college. Despite facing discrimination and violence on the field, Trice's legacy lives on, with the university hosting the Jack Trice Legacy Football Game and honoring him with academic lectures, a posthumous degree, and a commemorative service. His name now graces the only stadium in major college football named after a representative of his race.
