Notre Dame officials advocate for stronger NCAA regulations amidst crisis.

Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick has warned that the NCAA could splinter without stronger rules and regulations around Name, Image and Likeness (NIL). Swarbrick said that NIL spending is creating division among schools and that if student-athletes are deemed employees, the future will be more than one athletic association. He also suggested that the NCAA needs to create NIL policies, including that all NIL transactions should be required to be reported to the school by athletes. Swarbrick and Notre Dame President the Rev. John Jenkins wrote an op-ed in the New York Times to explain why "college athletics is in crisis."
