"Deadly Attack on Catholic Church in Burkina Faso Leaves 15 Dead"
At least 15 people were killed and two others injured in an attack on a Catholic church in north-eastern Burkina Faso, suspected to be carried out by Islamist militants. This is the latest in a series of attacks attributed to such groups in the country, where more than a third of the territory is under insurgent control. The authorities have been battling Islamist groups linked to al-Qaeda and Islamic State, and churches have been targeted in recent years, resulting in the deaths of many worshippers. Burkina Faso, along with Mali and Niger, recently pulled out of the regional bloc, Ecowas, citing lack of support in the fight against terrorism.
