The Nothing Phone (2), a new Android smartphone priced at $699, has outperformed the iPhone 14 Plus in a speed test conducted by PhoneBuff. With more powerful hardware specs, including 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, the Nothing Phone (2) was able to beat the iPhone 14 Plus by six seconds overall. Despite both phones using older processors, the Nothing Phone (2) with its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor proved to be faster than the iPhone 14 Plus with its A15 Bionic chip.
The iPhone 14 Plus is reportedly selling worse than Apple's expectations, but it is outselling the iPhone 13 mini, which it replaced. Display Supply Chain Consultants' survey of supply chain data for iPhone panel shipments over the last 12 months shows that the iPhone 14 series is tracking 2% higher than the iPhone 13 series during the same time period. The iPhone 14 Pro lineup continues to dominate the iPhone lineup, even in comparison to the iPhone 13 Pro's success.
A report by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) has found that panel shipments for the iPhone 14 Plus are 59% higher than they were for the iPhone 13 mini during the same period last year, indicating that there is not much demand for small phones compared to larger ones. However, the iPhone 14 Plus is still not selling as well as the Pro models, with the iPhone 14 Pro Max having the largest share of iPhone 14 series panel shipments. The report suggests that the Plus line may not stick around for long, just like the mini line.
