"Citadel Achieves Double-Digit 2023 Gains Yet Trails Behind S&P 500"
Ken Griffin's hedge fund Citadel reported double-digit returns across its various strategies in 2023, with the Wellington fund gaining 15.3%. Despite these gains, Citadel's performance lagged behind the S&P 500, which climbed 24%. The firm's tactical trading and equities funds also saw significant returns, but the overall challenging market conditions made it difficult for many hedge funds to outperform the market. Citadel is set to return all $7 billion in profits from 2023 to its investors, maintaining its trend of giving back profits, with about $25 billion returned since 2018.
