Revolutionary Treatment: Gut Bacteria Drug for IBS and Arthritis
Researchers have developed a microgel delivery system for probiotics that can treat intestinal inflammation without side effects. The system protects "good" bacteria while actively clearing out "bad" ones. The microgel spheres allowed probiotics to proliferate in the intestine without any side effects in a colitis mouse model, showing that the delivery system could be a viable treatment strategy for certain intestinal diseases, such as Crohn's disease.
