Voyager 1 Revives 1981 Radio for Historic Cosmic Communication
NASA's Voyager 1, the most distant human-made object, recently switched to a radio transmitter it hasn't used since 1981 after a fault protection system was triggered. This occurred when NASA attempted to activate a heater on the spacecraft, leading to communication issues. Engineers reestablished contact using the S-band transmitter, and troubleshooting is ongoing to resolve the problem. Despite its age, Voyager 1 continues to provide valuable data from interstellar space, though its operational life is expected to end by 2025 due to dwindling power.
