Declining Confidence: Americans' Trust in U.S. Military Hits 20-Year Low
Public confidence in the U.S. military has reached its lowest level in over two decades, with only 60 percent of Americans expressing a great deal or quite a lot of confidence, according to a recent Gallup poll. This marks the steepest decline in the past five years and is potentially linked to the U.S.'s rocky exit from Afghanistan. Republicans, historically showing the highest levels of confidence, have seen a significant drop in trust, while independents now have the lowest trust. The military still remains the most trusted institution, while Congress registers the lowest confidence at 8 percent.
