INDYCAR announced the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C., a street race around the National Mall planned for Aug. 21–23, 2026, authorized by an executive order signed by President Trump. The event aims to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, will be free to the public, televised on FOX, and organized with federal agencies and D.C.’s local government.
The Detroit Grand Prix is returning to the city's streets after more than 30 years, with IndyCars racing at speeds of 200 mph through downtown. The event is expected to put the city's revitalized riverfront and rich automotive history in the spotlight and generate crowds, traffic, and noise. The Grand Prix is set to be broadcast on NBC, and, in addition to the race, concerts and other activities are planned. The event is estimated to draw more than 100,000 people and generate over $77 million in revenue.
