Philippine immigration authorities confirmed that Sajid Akram, an Indian national, and his son Naveed, an Australian, visited the Philippines last month before the Bondi massacre in Sydney, which was inspired by Islamic State. They arrived in Davao from Sydney on November 1 and left on November 28, traveling via Manila.

Indian national Nikhil Gupta has been charged with murder-for-hire and conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire in connection with a foiled plot to assassinate a U.S. citizen in New York City. Gupta, an associate of an Indian government employee, allegedly orchestrated the plot to kill an attorney and political activist who advocates for the establishment of a sovereign state for Sikhs in India. The Indian government employee directed the plot from India, recruiting Gupta to contract a hitman. However, the hitman turned out to be an undercover DEA officer. Gupta is currently detained in the Czech Republic, awaiting extradition to the United States.
