Despite the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to continue working on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), aiming to boost trade and transport of goods. The corridor is seen as a way to counter China's influence in the region. During his visit, agreements were also reached on a bilateral investment treaty and cooperation in electricity connection and digital infrastructure. Modi's trip includes a visit to Qatar, where he is expected to meet with the Emir and follows Qatar's release of eight former Indian navy personnel, with Modi personally involved in securing their release.
