Omaha Beekeeper Takes Drastic Measures to Stop Spread of Deadly Bee Disease
An Omaha beekeeper, Mark Welsch, incinerated around 50,000 bees to prevent the spread of American foulbrood, a contagious disease that can kill bees. Welsch found one of his hives infected with the disease and decided to incinerate the bees after putting them in soapy water. He believes incineration is the best way to stop the spread of the disease and wants other local beekeepers to be aware of it.
