Larian Studios has revealed how the mind flayer parasites tie into the RPG systems of Baldur's Gate 3. Players can choose to embrace or resist the corruption, with embracing unlocking a hidden skill tree with mind-flayer-inspired abilities. These abilities include psionic, manipulation, health restoration, and damaging/debuffing skills. Progressing through the skill tree requires finding mind maggots and attaching them to nodes in the brain. Some companions can eat the parasites for powers, while others will refuse, affecting their perception of the player. Baldur's Gate 3 leaves early access on August 3rd.
