According to the authors of "Smart Startups: What Every Entrepreneur Needs to Know," there is no such thing as a "lightbulb moment" when it comes to finding a successful business idea. The authors interviewed 18 Harvard Business School graduates who launched notable startups and found that around half of them had no initial idea but knew they wanted to create something. They suggest two strategies for finding great ideas: deliberate ideation, where you search for interesting trends and passions, and organic ideation, where you connect the dots from your own experiences. They also emphasize the importance of testing the viability of your idea based on market size, relevant skills, and passion, while accepting the high odds of failure and being willing to take risks.
