The St. John Parish Coroner's Office has identified seven of the eight victims who died in a 168-car pile-up on I-55 in Louisiana. The victims include Nakia Gaines, Mason Gaines, Fernando Francisco DeMoraes, Jose Elias Valle, Corinne Hebert, James Fleming, and Quatab Singh Negi. One lane of I-55 southbound has reopened, but the northbound lanes remain closed for repairs.
Michael and Amy Zinchuk, a couple from Champaign, were among the seven people who died in the I-55 pileup caused by a dust storm on Monday. Amy was a piano teacher who taught around 60 students, while Michael was an avid reader and history lover. They met at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and were married in 1992, raising their children in Champaign. The couple is survived by their three children and eight siblings. A GoFundMe has been set up to raise funds for their children's expenses.
