Pennsylvania Hunters Face Challenges Purchasing Licenses

The Pennsylvania Game Commission opened sales on Pennsylvania general hunting licenses and antlerless deer licenses at 8 a.m. Monday, and hunters waited in lines at sport shops and county treasurers' offices. This is the first year that hunters can buy one antlerless license with their general license. The commission was able to identify some issues, and the system was recovering by late morning. With antlerless licenses now available when hunters buy a general license, many hunters aren’t sure how quickly doe tags will sell out compared to last year.

"Hunters' Frustration Mounts as Pennsylvania's New License System Falters"

The Pennsylvania Game Commission's new online system for purchasing hunting licenses, including antlerless deer licenses, experienced widespread slowness and intermittent errors on its first day of sales. The commission apologized for the issues and is working to resolve them with their online vendor. Customers reported computer lock-ups and long queues while trying to make their purchases. The next rounds for purchasing antlerless licenses will begin in July and August.
