Black bear captured and released in DC neighborhood.

A large black bear was safely captured and released back into the wild after running loose through backyards in Northeast D.C. The bear was tranquilized and taken to a remote area of Maryland by the Humane Rescue Alliance. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources took custody of the bear. The bear was perched in a tree for a few hours before being sedated and loaded into a steel cage. Cooperation between D.C. police, animal control, and other first responders helped to safely sedate the bear.

A young black bear was found wandering in a Washington D.C. neighborhood, prompting a response from local authorities and sparking a frenzy on social media.
