"Meta Quest 3: Eye Tracking Add-On Debunked, Best Games to Play, Review, and Headset Comparison"
Meta's CTO, Andrew Bosworth, dismissed the possibility of an eye tracking add-on for the Quest 3 headset, stating that it is not feasible to incorporate eye tracking or upper-face tracking as an accessory due to technical challenges. While eye tracking has various applications in VR, such as foveated rendering and user interface selection, Bosworth explained that the required hardware placement and illumination make it difficult to implement as an add-on. In contrast, HTC has released face tracking and eye tracking add-ons for its Vive Focus 3 headset, allowing simultaneous use through its dual USB-C ports. Bosworth previously mentioned that eye tracking will eventually be included in all Quest headsets, but the timing remains uncertain.
