Legendary WWII Submarine USS Harder Found Intact in South China Sea
The wreckage of the USS Harder, a U.S. Navy submarine that sank the most Japanese warships during World War II, has been discovered 3,000 feet below the South China Sea. The submarine, which went missing in 1944, was found relatively intact except for depth-charge damage. The site is considered a war grave and is protected by U.S. law. The discovery was confirmed by the Navy’s History and Heritage Command and the Lost 52 Project, which aims to locate and preserve lost WWII submarines.
