Timberline is closed on Friday following a fire in the historic lodge's attic on Thursday night. The cause of the fire is unknown, and investigators from the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are on the scene. Everyone evacuated safely, and the fire was extinguished by just before 11:30 p.m. The lodge and ski area will remain closed while the damage is assessed.
The historic Lutsen Resort lodge in northern Minnesota has been completely destroyed by a fire, marking the third time the lodge has been lost to fire in 75 years. No guests were on site, and no injuries were reported. The lodge had previously burned down in fires in 1949 and 1951. The Minnesota Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire, and multiple fire departments responded to the scene.
