"Delaware's Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester makes historic Senate bid"
Delaware Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester announced her candidacy for the Senate, hoping to become the state's first African-American female senator. If elected, she would be the third African-American woman in the upper chamber, following Carol Mosley Braun and Vice President Kamala Harris. Blunt Rochester previously worked for Sen. Tom Carper, who endorsed her after announcing his retirement last month. She is running on a platform of promoting jobs and healthcare and is one of at least three Black women running for Senate in Democratic primaries in 2024.
