High school senior chooses college after receiving $10M in scholarship offers.

High school senior Dennis “Maliq” Barnes, who has earned scholarship offers from more than 150 schools, has announced his final college decision. Barnes has set a record for total dollars in scholarship awards, which have reached more than $10.1 million from over 150 American colleges and universities. He has committed to Cornell University’s College of Engineering in Ithaca, New York, to pursue computer science and criminal justice. Barnes wants other young people to remain focused on education and make it a priority over everything else.

High school senior breaks college scholarship record with $9M+ in offers.

Dennis Barnes, a 16-year-old high school senior from New Orleans, has broken the record for most college scholarships received by a college-bound high school senior in U.S. history, receiving more than $9 million in scholarships in acceptances from more than 170 colleges and universities. Barnes, who has a 4.98 cumulative GPA, applied to more than 200 schools across the U.S. and hopes to net more than $10 million in scholarships by the end of the week. He plans to study computer science in college and then go to law school.
