A Hennepin County judge has rejected a plea deal for Husayn Braveheart, a man charged with aiding and abetting murder in connection to a fatal 2019 shooting in Minneapolis. The plea deal, which called for no jail time if Braveheart continued treatment for trauma and abuse, was met with anger and frustration from the family of the victim. The judge refused to sign off on the deal, stating that he couldn't find substantial and compelling reasons to depart from the standard sentencing guidelines. Another teen charged in connection to the shooting has already been sentenced to over 21 years in prison. A hearing to discuss how to proceed is scheduled for December 14.
