As of January 1, 2024, Nevada has implemented 80 new laws, including the doubling of legal marijuana possession to 2.5 ounces and allowing recreational retailers to sell medical cannabis without a separate license. The state has also introduced measures to improve healthcare coverage, such as mandatory insurance coverage for breast cancer tests and extended Medicaid postpartum care to a full year. Solitary confinement in prisons is now limited to a last resort with a maximum of 15 days. Additionally, Nevada has legalized "human composting," becoming the seventh state to allow the organic disposal of human remains into soil.
