UNC Hospitals has requested an assessment of McLendon Clinical Laboratories after multiple employees reported cancer diagnoses over the past 20 years. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has initiated a health hazard evaluation to determine potential exposure to hazardous materials and its impact on employee health. The evaluation, expected to take months, will recommend ways to reduce hazards and prevent work-related illnesses and injuries.
