"Quantum Leap: The Rise and Fall of Diamond as the Ultimate Material"
Researchers at TMOS have developed a method to stabilize the charge state of boron vacancy defects in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), a potential replacement for diamond in quantum sensing and quantum information processing. By integrating a confocal photoluminescent microscope with a scanning electron microscope, the team was able to manipulate the charge states of boron vacancy defects while measuring them. This research opens doors for the integration of hBN into devices where diamond is not suitable, offering new possibilities for quantum sensors and data processing.
