Governor Katie Hobbs has vetoed HB2441, a bill that would have required large cities like Scottsdale to execute an agreement with a third party to treat and transport water to a standpipe and allow water to be hauled to homes outside the city's water service area under certain provisions. Scottsdale officials were calling for the governor to veto the bill, stating that it would force them to be a utility for non-residents and violate their drought management plan. Rio Verde Foothills residents have been without a main water source for months.
