"Northwestern Football's Coaching Legacy Tarnished Amid Hazing Scandal"
Northwestern University will retain its assistant coaches and support staff for the 2023 season following the firing of head coach Pat Fitzgerald. Athletic director Derrick Gragg informed the coaches and staff of their status in a meeting, while defensive coordinator David Braun is currently managing the program as a liaison and could potentially become the interim coach. The school fired Fitzgerald amid an investigation into hazing within the program, although the investigation did not find evidence that Fitzgerald or the assistant coaches were aware of the incidents. Northwestern is scheduled to begin preseason practices in August.
