Rabid Fox Attacks on the Rise in Ticonderoga and Union County
A third incident of a rabid grey fox biting a Ticonderoga resident occurred this week, with the animal later captured and confirmed positive for rabies. The Essex County Health Department issued a warning to residents and urged them to make sure pets are up to date on vaccinations and to avoid wild animals that seem overly friendly or acting abnormally. The US Department of Agriculture will reevaluate its bait drop schedule to possibly include Essex County after an increase in rabies cases in the past year.
